These steps have been specifically designed to work independently, but also in conjunction with the High Step, allowing them both to pass each other along the bars without a need for removal, and can even be stored vertically together. This gives you the ultimate flexibility so you can reach your roof contents using the high step, or, if your truck is lifted, use the low step to get into your vehicle. 

If you prefer a fixed emplacement, the inner channel allows a piece of weather strip (included) to be adhered which will effectively prevent them from being adjustable in position.
